Welcome

Jessica and I are wore out by our folly, pained by our naïveté. We are trying to learn how to bring our questions and sorrows, our doubts and faith, our relational brokenness and longings, into conversation with Jesus and his wisdom. We hope through this community you can find hope, and practical help to risk with Jesus too.

The Sage Team

  • Zack Eswine

Zack pastors at Riverside Church and is the co-founder of Sage Christianity with his wife Jessica. He formerly served as Director of Homiletics and Scholar-in-Residence at the Francis Schaeffer Institute (FSI) at Covenant Seminary. A writer and pastor, Zack’s books include Recovering Eden: The Gospel According to Ecclesiastes, Spurgeon’s Sorrows: Realistic Hope for those who Suffer from Depression, Preaching to a Post-Everything World, and The Imperfect Pastor.

  • Jessica Eswine

Jessica is the Co-founder of Sage Christianity with her husband, Zack. She serves as a Visiting Instructor for the Francis Schaeffer Institute, and as an Attorney for the Missouri Court of Appeals.

  • Mark Ryan

Mark is an evangelist and apologist serving as the Executive Director of Sage Christianity. He previously served as the Director of the Francis Schaeffer Institute (FSI) at Covenant Seminary after pastoring in the United States and in his home country of Australia. Mark also spent numerous years working with L’Abri Fellowship, a ministry begun by Francis and Edith Schaeffer. Mark and his wife Terri are well known in our city for the way they open their lives and their home to those who question God, are done with church, feel at a loss with faith or who feel curious but suspicious about Christianity.

  • Jess Fadel

Jess serves as the Media and Design Coordinator for Sage and is also a contributing writer. She seeks to create a safe space through her writing for those who have experienced religious trauma, are doubting, or are wondering about Jesus again.

What good are our deconstructions or constructions of faith, if those with honest questions, earnest doubts, actual sorrows, and wondrous hopes still can’t feel safe enough to share them nor find wisdom sturdy enough to navigate the real world?

Sage Christianity is in the process of becoming a 501c3 Not-for-profit organization. Our vision is to bring the questions and doubts of life into hospitable conversation with the wisdom of Jesus and to help others learn how to do this too.
